CBP Publishes Federal Register Notice with Annex of Indian Products Facing Additional Duties
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Aug. 25 published a Federal Register notice that lists the additional import duties which are effective for Indian products entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:01 a.m. ET on Aug. 27.
Specifically, the Federal Register notice Annex presents the modifications to subchapter III of chapter 99 of the HTSUS in response to the 25% ad valorem duty on Indian products by inserting new headings in numerical sequence, with the material in the new heading inserted in the columns of the HTSUS labeled “Heading/Subheading”, “Article Description”, “Rates of Duty 1-General”, “Rates of Duty 1-Special” and “Rates of Duty 2”, respectively.
On Aug. 6, the Trump administration issued Executive Order 14329 to impose an additional ad valorem duty rate of 25% on U.S. imports of Indian products in response to India directly or indirectly importing Russian oil in support of Russia’s military incursion into the Ukraine.
